Introducing Yerim LEE,

Pianist specialising in chamber music.

- My Philosophy -

A collaborative pianist does not just play a supporting role; they are crucial to the process of realising music as a whole. To fulfil the demands of chamber music performance—such as precision, emotional expression, and collaboration—a collaborative pianist must possess both musical insight and technical proficiency.

Through a combination of effective communication, adaptability, and responsiveness, you can help guide any performance with skill and sensitivity. This is the path to becoming an exceptional collaborative pianist in the world of classical music.

Yerim Lee is a highly regarded collaborative pianist known for her extensive repertoire and deep artistic commitment to musical collaboration. Her approach to interpretation and interaction with fellow musicians is characterised by creativity, sensitivity, and musical insight.

Originally from Korea, Yerim moved to Australia in 2011, where she shifted her focus to a career as a collaborative pianist. She earned her Master of Music in Collaborative Piano while studying under distinguished mentors Prof. Jeanell Carrigan AM, David Miller AM, and Phillip Shovk.

For the past decade, Yerim has been an integral part of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, working as a chamber pianist. Her skills are in high demand, and she has collaborated with renowned musicians including cellist Julian Smiles and Georg Pedersen, violinist Goetz Richter AM, and SSO Associate Principal Clarinet Frank Celata, among others. Yerim has also served as the official collaborative pianist at events such as the Sydney Eisteddfod, Fine music Young Virtuoso Award and masterclasses organised by the Sydney International Piano Competition.

Yerim has showcased her talents through numerous recitals, often in collaboration with respected Australian musicians. She has performed at the Sydney Opera House, participating in events such as the International Honours Performance with the Carnegie Hall Festival Choir, conducted by Dr. Lynne Gackle. She was also performed as co-soloist in the world premiere of Daniel Rojas’ Danza and Romanza de las Muertos for piano four hands and symphony orchestra with the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra in 2023.

In 2024, Yerim performed as a chamber pianist at the Orange Chamber Music Festival and held a concert organised by the Wagner Society with opera singers. As an established artist, Yerim currently holds a position as a casual lecturer in the collaborative piano faculty at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She remains actively involved in both performance and pedagogical roles, supporting both emerging and professional musicians in their artistic journeys.
